In a nation obsessed with music, there is no dearth of career options for those who are music savvy.

  • Confident and self assured: If your child does not believe in his/her talent, nobody will
  • Commitment and Perseverance: Your child may not get a breakthrough right away. It is important to be prepared to try again and again
Careers your child can explore are:
  • Singers/Performers
Making it to the big stage is a dream all performers cherish, but very few actually manage to achieve it. Singers/performers can sing/perform in events, fests, live shows, clubs and lounges, concerts and gigs or even make it to the music industry if they get the right opportunity.
  • Music Composers
A music composer creates music or instrumentals from lyrics and instruments. He/she is responsible for arranging the music quality, harmony, rhythm, recording and texture. Sound knowledge of various musical instruments, and advanced skills in playing at least one, is a must.
  • Disc Jockeys (DJs)
For those who know their music inside out and know how to catch the pulse of the crowd, a career as a DJ can be on the cards. Exciting, fun, and suitably rewarding, it is ideal for those who like to party and have fun, even whilst at work.
  • Music Management
For those who like to work on music behind the scenes and are good at recognizing talent, music management can prove to be a great career. Music managers hunt for talent, help them negotiate with clients, provide them exposure, and are responsible for charting out their career path.
  • Music Teacher
if one is truly passionate about music, there can be no grater joy than sharing it with, and passing it on to others. There are many music enthusiasts who require somebody to guide and instruct them. Music teachers can train students to sing, or play an instrument and encourage them to hone their skills by practicing consistently.
  • Songwriters
The lyrics of a song are what catch most people’s fancy, even more than the tune or rhythm. Songwriters make music with words and write the lyrics which are then put into a song. Songwriting is one of the most challenging aspects of making music. Not only do the lyrics have to appeal to the listener, but also be very catchy, and fall into a certain meter and tone.
  • Music Critics
Music critics review music, conduct interviews and inform the audience about new music worth listening to. A passion for music, deep insight and knowledge about different genres and artists, as well as a flair for writing are musts for those looking to make a career in this field.
