The Commonwealth Games (CWG) is round the corner and India has its own set of promising players who can bring those shining medals for the country. One such rising player is Saina Nehwal, an uprising Badminton player, who has been ranked number 3 by World Badminton Federation.

Born on March 17, 1990 in Hisar, Haryana, Saina spent her entire life in Hyderabad. It was the continuous support and motivation by her parents, Dr. Harvir Singh and Usha Nehwal, that made her enter the world of Badminton.

Achievements at a Glance:

  • Saina appeared on the global stage in 2006 and won the Philippines Open, thus becoming the first Indian woman to mark a win in a 4-star tournament.
  • She wrote the History on June 21, 2009 by becoming the first Indian to win a Super Series Tournament.
  • Again on June 20, 2010, she grabbed her second career Super Series Title when she successfully won the Singapore Open Title.
  • In the same year, she won the Indonesian Open as well and thus, completed her hat-trick. This win brought her into the global media-limelight.
  • Going by the BWF Super Series, this energetic Badminton player has been ranked No.1 with 29860 points.
